Affiliate disclosure
The short version: we earn a commission when you buy through our links, it costs you nothing extra, and it never changes a ranking.

Glass & Cotton is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
In plain English: if you click a product link on this site and buy something, we may receive a commission from the retailer. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway. This is the only way the site makes money.
How the links work
- Product links go through our own `/go` redirect before reaching the retailer. That is how the link is tagged to this site, and it is why the address bar shows glassandcotton.com for a moment before Amazon loads.
- Every affiliate link carries a marker. You will see `#ad` and an "affiliate link" note beneath each buy button, plus a disclosure box above the first call to action on every page that has one.
- Affiliate links carry `rel="sponsored nofollow"`, which is what Google's policies require of a paid or commissioned link.
- Citations are not affiliate links. Links to EPA, FDA, NSF, GOTS, OEKO-TEX, journal articles and manufacturer spec pages earn us nothing and exist so you can check our claims.
- The `/go` redirect is not indexed. It is excluded in robots.txt and marked noindex, because it is plumbing rather than content.
Which programs we are in
Amazon Associates. That is the full list at the moment of writing. Every product link on this site goes to Amazon under our Associates tracking ID.
We are not currently in any other affiliate network, and we do not place links through networks we have not joined. If that changes, this page changes with it — and a link to a retailer we earn nothing from will keep earning nothing rather than quietly becoming a tracked link.
Why there are no prices on the pages
Prices move constantly, and a number written into a review page is wrong within days. Worse, it is wrong in a way that looks authoritative. So this site does not print them.
Instead, every buy button is labeled "check price on Amazon" and takes you to the live listing where the current price is whatever it actually is. When a live price feed is wired up, prices will appear with the date they were checked next to them, and will disappear automatically if that check ever goes stale. That mechanism is built; it simply has nothing to show yet.
What a commission is not allowed to change
These rules are set out in full in the editorial policy, and the method behind the recommendations is on how we choose.
- Which products appear.
- What order they appear in.
- What the stated downside of a product is.
- Whether we say a product is a bad fit for you.
- Whether we recommend buying nothing at all, which several pages here do.
Questions
Email contact@glassandcotton.com. If something on this site reads like an advert rather than a recommendation, we would genuinely like to hear about it.
Questions people actually ask
Does it cost me more to buy through your links?
No. The price is the same as it would be if you went to the retailer directly. The commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your purchase.
Do you earn from every link on the site?
No. Links to regulators, standards bodies, journal articles and manufacturer specification pages are citations and earn nothing. Only product links to Amazon are affiliate links, and they carry a disclosure marker.
Why do your pages not show prices?
Because prices change daily and a stale number on a review page is worse than no number at all. There is no live price source wired to this site yet, so every price slot reads "check price on Amazon" and sends you to the live listing.
Can a brand pay to be recommended?
No. No brand pays for placement, for a review or for a position in a roundup, and no brand sees a page before it is published. See the editorial policy.
