Terms of service

This site publishes research and editorial opinion about consumer products: what manufacturers state their products are made of, which third-party certifications those products hold, and what we conclude from both. Claims are labeled as third-party certified, manufacturer-stated, or independently tested by a named party, and sources are cited.

It is written to be checkable rather than authoritative. Where we say a brand claims something, we are reporting a claim, not endorsing it.

• Not medical advice. Nothing here diagnoses, treats or prevents any condition. If you have a specific health concern — a nickel allergy, an iron-overload condition, a pregnancy, a child's exposure question — speak to a clinician who knows your situation.
• Not laboratory testing. We do not test products. Where testing is cited, it was performed and published by a named third party.
• Not a guarantee of product performance or safety. Manufacturers change formulations and constructions without notice, and a page is accurate as of its last-reviewed date.
• Not legal or regulatory advice. Our explanations of standards such as Proposition 65, NSF/ANSI or GOTS are written for shoppers, not for compliance purposes.

We take accuracy seriously and correct errors when we learn of them, but we cannot guarantee that every statement is complete or current. Prices in particular are never published here precisely because they change; the live retailer listing is always the authority on price and availability.
